Rings of Fire

This post is basically to express my appreciation for Danny Boyle's Olympic 2012 Opening Ceremony.  I had the privilege of watching at the cinema in all its HD and crystal clear sound glory.

I thought it wasn't going to be anything special at first, at the sight of stage at the start which was just fields of grass. However as the show started it all made sense as we were given an entertaining history lesson. My favourite moment was during the Industrial Revolution part when the rings from different places all joined together at the top of the stadium and burst into sparks. That was the part that made me sit up.

I think it was great to have the NHS recognised as well as I think most staff do a great job. The part where that big Lord Voldemort was hovering over the stadium was rather scary though!

I'm glad they included important British people in the ceremony such as JK Rowling who's had amazing success with the Harry Potter books which in my opinion is fully deserved.

One thing I slightly disagreed with was asking Emeli Sande to sing Abide With Me for a tribute to those that couldn't be at the ceremony. I feel Leona Lewis should have took this part, yes I am a big Leona fan but I have reasons. Not only does she have the perfect voice, she's had huge success in the UK and worldwide, especially with her big album 'Spirit'. She was also born and bred in the area that the ceremony was taking place, and on top of all that she performed at the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics! However, Sande did a great job and she was the next person I would have chose. Hearing her voice through the speakers in the cinema gave me chills.

The Queen didn't look very happy all the way through it, and not sure why she even attended. The parade of all the competing countries was long but brought a feeling of everyone coming together and taking part.

Whether you're into sport or not, this is the perfect opportunity to get behind your country. And to those Twitter trolls, it doesn't really matter if we don't do as well, those that are taking part are probably very happy just to be taking part.

Goodluck to Team GB!
