Been a while since last posted, thought I’d
make a post that would bridge the gap, about bridging the gap!..
I’m currently in that awkward part of life where you’ve finally finished education and you’re on the hunt for
something to get you going in life, because being brave enough to move to
university and suddenly learn to live independently whilst balancing your
social life and your academic work itself isn’t enough.
You don’t really get told about this part
from anyone, or you may get told but not realize how tough it actually is until
you’re going through it yourself. During my time at University I was constantly
looking out for the right opportunities to take and I advise everyone to do
this because the more experience you have the more you stand out from the crowd
of applicants.
The key is the type of experience you get. It should be relevant to your industry
sector you want to go into after finishing university, but there’s still a lot
of people who still don’t know what they want to do at that time. I had an idea
of what I wanted to do, as you’ve probably heard me say “Something in IT” as
I’ve always had a passion for all things digital, but that’s still very broad and
not specific enough unless you want to go into programming, which admittedly isn't where my strengths lie.
Luckily I think i've found what i'd like to go into, and i'm working on getting as much experience and developing my skills. Due to the growing industry of digital and social media there are a number of opportunities such as internships or specific graduate positions, but there's a lot of applicants out there for each and every job, I just have to keep trying my hardest and hope there is a place out there for me.
