My Favourite 5... Suspense Thrillers

I've always loved watching suspense thriller films as they really engage you with the film and make your heart race like Usain Bolt.

The most important ingredient for these types of films is minimalism. By this I refer to the story, sound, special effects, number of characters and scenery.

Panic Room
It's not the most critically acclaimed of films but David Fincher's Panic Room had me hooked from the moment the mother and daughter locked themselves in the panic room on discovery of some angry masked men downstairs. Little do they know what they really want is in that room! I also think Jodie Foster's great as usual.

Misery
I can never look at Kathy Bates the same again (except in Titanic where she's quite friendly). Bates plays an obsessed fan (Annie) of an authors' character Misery. She rescues and helps the author mend at her home but soon discovers he has killed Misery in the latest book, Annie isn't happy.

No Country For Old Men
I like the silence in this film. It contrasts with the outrageous and scarily uncaring character Anton Chigurh.

Frozen
Three skiers get stuck on a chairlift in the middle of nowhere and temperatures are at freezing point. The film puts you with the three skiers and has you wondering what you would really do in that situation and shows the lengths that humans go to survive or rescue others.

Duel
A man gets in his car and drives... A massive truck then tries to kill him on the road throughout the film. One of Spielberg's earlier works but he still manages to create fear and dread when the truck appears almost evil-human like.

Give them a watch if you're ever in the mood for a bit of suspense!
